Johns Hopkins University Chapter
We strive to impact poverty with ingenuity within the Baltimore community and abroad.
Students raise money by running socially responsible businesses on campus that help support people, planet, and profits. We provide an opportunity for members to gain skills in social enterprise, responsible development, and leadership to create lasting social change. We then invest profits and travel abroad to implement a sustainable project in partnership with a local organization abroad.
Nourish International at Johns Hopkins is working in conjunction with the Chapter at Georgia Tech University to support our partner organization, the URDT. URDT was founded to address the missing link in development programmes by merging education and training with rural development interventions, with the intent of empowering marginalized people living in rural communities. URDT has a holistic approach to development that recognizes the inter-relationship between health, nutrition, sanitation, water management, rural technologies, sustainable income generation, governance, and environment.
Paint Out Poverty An annual awareness event, Paint Out Poverty is a time for students to actively engage in conversations about poverty, development, and sustainable solutions and find out more about our organization. Students have the chance to write positive, encouraging words over a white board to “paint” out poverty.
Boba Tea for a Better Uganda In pursuit of our mission to engage with local businesses, Nourish has partnered with Kung Fu Tea in Towson to sell bubble tea on campus. Through this venture, students are able to draft business proposals, develop leadership skills, organize large-scale fundraising events, and engage with the Baltimore and Hopkins community while enjoying a delicious cup of boba!
Come join us in support of JHU Nourish and the URDT! Everyone is welcome to attend all events and ventures.
We are a diverse group of Hopkins students committed to taking a stand against poverty by creating a lasting positive impact in Baltimore and abroad. Stay tune for member profiles!
Nourish welcomes new members and the application can be found here. Those who demonstrate passion for the Nourish Model and the URDT will be invited to join our growing team. We look forward to hearing from you!
